The kids all ran onto the sparkling floor
dancing dancing as never before
as only kids can do and more
with less and less stress and inhibition
I was imagining they were there
like dancing queens
they’d shake and purr
for me to laugh they’d direct their stare
throwing kisses in the air
how I wished that they were there
they were, but only in my head!
Sophia danced slowly then fast
as Jessica joined her at last
and Cadhla danced by rolling on the floor
Ciaran clapped his hands asking for more
AND THEN
THE MUSIC DIED
AND

CRIED
BECAUSE
THEY DISAPPEARED FROM MY HEAD
AND
RETURNED AGAIN
TO SOME BOOK i HAD READ.
