Dead Autumn Leaves

Some leaves are already dead before falling to the ground

their existence – beautiful even without sound

shelter for birds from all around

The road was littered with people

and dead leaves

dead Autumn leaves will now and

forever

 be a symbol

in my mind

of the time when you left us

heartbroken

and yet grateful,

to have been loved by you.
