The Winter of the Peace Process

It was the longest, coldest winter

that I could recall,

like this process of peace,

cold and heartless at times; where

seemingly straight roads disguise treacherous icy dips

hidden from view by the misleading road signs

where even the most experienced driver can’t avoid

the pit falls and traps.

Cautiously, we venture down every avenue until eventually

we are re-rooted.

In our homes or other sane locations we find shelter

we may also find an inner peace –

that comes and goes like day and night.

So let history note: that we are a sensible people,

not idiots who know no other word than ‘NO’!
